Let’s get in touch!
Hi, I’m Sara.
Aside from bonseki, I enjoy learning about ikebana (art of floral design), chadō (way of tea), and kōdō (way of fragrance). These traditional arts offer a restorative counterbalance to modern life and inform my bonseki teaching practice.
I am committed to the cultural stewardship and contemporary transmission of bonseki in the United States, working in partnership with museums, community organizations, and recovery-focused spaces. I offer bonseki instruction, including workshops at the Denver Art Museum and the Arvada Center for Arts & Humanities.
My work also extends into therapeutic and recovery settings, including Denver Health and The Gathering Place, through grant-funded community programming supported by RedLine Contemporary Art Center.
In addition to in-person teaching, I am developing broader educational and media initiatives to expand awareness of this rare art form in the West.
